About Alain

Alain, born in Belgium, has spent most of his 30-year, international career in strategic management consulting, in industry and private equity, with multiple long, intensive periods of work in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the US/Latin America – mostly serving European-based multinationals. 
Prior to joining ADL, he was at McKinsey, BCG and PwC’s Strategy& for nine years, and before that in oil, gas & chemicals (Total) and private equity (Steel Partners Asia). Sector-wise, he specializes in chemicals (petrochemicals and industrial chemicals) and adjacent sectors, e.g., fine chemicals, oil downstream and industrial equipment. Functionally, his strengths are in strategy & organization together with commercial excellence.
Alain also has over 10 years of academic experience in international strategy & innovation, M&A and cross-cultural courses, as well as coaching & mentoring in various MBA programs and schools in Asia and Europe. He is the author of two books: “China’s Offensive in Europe” (Brookings – 2016) and “L’Offensive Chinoise en Europe” (Fayard – 2015). 
He is married to a Hong Kong Chinese lady and has two children.
